Facility Rules

General

1.Be Kind: All staff, boarders, and guests at SGEE are expected to maintain civil and kind behavior. Negative behavior - including but not limited to abusive language, harassment, bullying, or physical assault - will not be tolerated and may result in suspension from facility use or, at staff’s discretion, termination of contract.

2.Be Respectful: Be respectful of staff and other boarder’s horses, time, and belongings. Do not interact with horses not your own without their owner’s permission. If you need to do so in order to separate them from your own horse or to protect yourself, your horse, or a guests from aggressive behavior, notify the barn manager of the situation immediately. Clean up after yourself and your horses.

3.Safety: All staff, boarders, and guest are expected to maintain caution and adhere to safe behaviors and practices while using the facilities. All riders under the age of 18 must wear an ASTM/SEI certified helmet per New York state laws. Boarders may not fetch their own horses from a pasture due to the risk associated with other clients’ horses. If no staff is in the stable, contact the Manager, and she will come fetch your horse. If you need immediate access to your horse and no staff can physically be present, call the Manager to arrange a one-time exception to this rule with phone confirmation that all safety protocols are taken to ensure no horses get loose.

4.Hours: Boarders and guests are expected to adhere to our hours of operation - 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM. If you require access to the facilities afterhours, you must contact the Manager by call or text to inform her of your presence on the premises and any guests you have with you.

Arena

1.Scheduling: If the arena is booked for private use, respect the time of the person and/or horses using it. Do not interfere with a rider’s or horse’s arena time unless invited to participate. If the arena is not booked, it is free to use for all boarders and must be treated as a community space.

2.Booking: If you require private time in one of our arenas, you must book your time with the Manager. Booking can be done on the Booking page, over the phone, or in-person. Booking fees apply.

3.Maintenance: Be respectful of the facility, horses, and other riders by maintaining clean, safe, and organized riding spaces. Clean up after yourself and your horses and put away all equipment after using the arena.

Riding

1.Access: All boarders have free access to our indoor and outdoor arenas, trails, and riding fields with the exception of times in which our arenas are booked. Afterhours access is granted to our indoor arena only, and you must call or text the Manager to inform her of your presence on the premises and any guests you have with you.

2.Ettiquet: Riders are expected to have their horses under control when riding with others. Maintain safe distances between yourself an other riders. Do not critique another rider unless requested to do so.

3.Stallions: If you own or ride a stallion, you must either book and ride in one of our arenas or have the permission of all other riders present when joining riding groups. If you are riding our trails or fields, you must call or text the Manager ahead of time to inform them of your stallion’s presence outside of his designated boarding area. You are expected to have your stallion within your control at all times while riding with others or in open spaces.

4.Helmets: In accordance with New York state laws, any rider under the age of 18 must wear an ASTM/SEI certified helmet. Helmets are optional for riders over the age of 18, but highly encouraged.
